Public Library
Our project is to build a public library and providing support for the local community.
Why Public Library?
Public Library Project: In 2021, we began work on a new project, which will seek to build a public library in Gonder, Ethiopia. The library will include a room with a selection of books and area for silent reading, a separate room with braille books and learning materials for the visually impaired, a digital learning center, a children’s library, toilets, and administrative office. There will also be an outdoor area for community members to gather and a café that will serve refreshments. The library will be internet accessible with computers, printers, photocopier, and other items.
The site for the library is located in Kebele 13, currently an underdeveloped and densely-populated area with limited educational and recreational opportunities for the community. It is our hope that this library will be an outlet for members of the community to gather and learn in a safe environment, and might help to improve the neighborhood overall. Upon completion, the library will be handed over to the Gondar City Administration and the people of the kebele, so that it will be jointly operated and maintained by the local authorities and community.

Why Saga Bridge?
Currently, due to the absence of nearby schools, children travel for hours to go to school. Children have to cross one of the largest rivers in the community to go to school. During the winter season, the river is full. Several people and cattle die each year trying to cross the river due to the absence of a bridge.
Este is the nearest city to the rural community. Many folks have go to Este for medical and shopping needs on a frequent basis. During winter, the community people will have to wait up to two months to cross the river until the river is no longer full, due to the absence of a bridge.
Having a bridge over the Saga River will make it possible for the rural community to travel to Este without having to walk two additional hours to go across the nearest bridge.
Our Goal
All donations 100% will go to support the construction of a public library. Our project is working with the local community and we’ve achieved great successes.
